Iconique, trained by Charlie Fellowes, put up a tremendous effort on Monday afternoon, doing Owners and Members proud as she won the 1m 3 ½f handicap at Yarmouth. In just her fifth time out at the track, Iconique fulfilled some of the potential we had seen in her previously at Yarmouth, as she put her head down and gave her all to beat off a very decent field in her hardest race to date.
Being a late foal, Iconique had needed a little more time to come to herself, and then her first appearance on the racecourse was delayed in the early summer due to a couple of bouts of coughing. However, Iconique’s Owners were prepared to allow her the time she needed to grow and strengthen to get ready for her racing career and their patience was rewarded on Monday, under what we would have to say, was a terrific ride from Hayley Turner, and we were pleased to see so many of our Owners and Members enjoying a fantastic day at the track!
We have always known that Iconique’s attitude was her biggest asset and Charlie conveyed how pleased he was with her effort afterwards. Only just starting to mature, she looks to have plenty more big days to come.
