John’s been training in Newmarket since 1995 and took over Beverley House Stables in 1997. During a short-lived career as an amateur jump jockey he rode one winner over fences, notably leading home Richard Dunwoody and Venetia Williams!

As a trainer, his best known horses are Largesse, Il Principe, Jack Dawson and Benedict, the winners of 32 races between them. Largesse now stands at stud for his owners Henry and Rosemary Moszkowicz and John has trained a number of his offspring, including Picot de Say, La Gessa and By Storm – all of whom have won for the stable.

A keen journalist, John writes a weekly international racing column for Australia’s leading racing paper Winning Post and is a regular guest on At The Races’ international programme.
