Balgair continued his good form this year with another excellent third in the decent mile handicap at Newmarket won by Ghaly from the Godolphin camp. By Dubawi out of a Galileo mare, he would probably have made more than Maydanny had he gone to the sales and there is no shame in finishing third to him.
Indeed, for a few strides at the furling pole it looked likely that we could beat him as Jack Mitchell brought him from last to share the lead only for the winners superior stamina to win the day. Balgair was caught on the line for second. Members had another nice EW touch on him, backed from 8/1 into 6’s and we were pleased with his excellent effort.
Balgair’s next success could be just around the corner!
