After last year saw a virtual version of the Henry Cecil Open Weekend due to the pandemic, it was wonderful to see the crowds back in Newmarket this weekend to celebrate this magnificent sport as trainer’s opened their yards.
We started the weekend on Saturday at Newmarket Racecourse with some of our Owners and Members as Balgair returned to take his place in the Amateur Jockey’s Cambridgeshire. After recovering from an infection over the summer, it was lovely to see him back, enthusiastic and showing plenty of promise on his return, finishing 4th and taking us to the Winners Enclosure.
On Sunday morning we joined Charlie Fellowes at his yard where we thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of those visiting Newmarket, as did our Bedford House Stables inmate, Iconique! A perfect morning followed by Pony Games and Show Jumping in the afternoon – the end of a superb weekend.
It was lovely to see so many in Newmarket enjoying themselves. A big thank you to Charlie Fellowes and all of the organisers.
