Iconique made her debut at Salisbury last night, finishing fourth in the 8.05pm Median Auction Fillies Maiden event over 1m2f with Rob Hornby aboard.
Being a late May foal, and with a cough or two slightly delaying her debut, it was a very exciting evening for her Owners to see her take her first steps on the track. She took in all the preliminaries well, taking in all the sights and sounds of what is now a busy racecourse since the easing of restrictions earlier in the week.
Iconique took it all in her stride and did just as was asked of her for, this, her first run, eventually running on to finish fourth to HM The Queen’s Stimulate trained by Michael Bell, but still making 8 lengths between herself and the horse in fifth. You can watch the race replay here.
Jockey, Rob Hornby, relayed that he felt it was the perfect starting point for her racing career, and she gave him a great, very professional ride. Charlie Fellowes, too, was very pleased with her efforts, confirming she has come out of the race well this morning, and is looking forward, already, to her next race.
So, onwards and upwards for this 3yo Sixties Icon filly. She has shown us what we hoped to see in her first race, and we are now all very much looking forward to her next start!
