With the syndicate for our 2yo Churchill x Market Day filly now complete, it tied in nicely with our naming process where we asked each of her owners to submit ideas, before ultimately voting for their favourite. We had some fantastic entries and any one of them would have made a brilliant name for the filly.
However, there emerged a clear winner, and we are pleased to announce the new racing name for this promising daughter of Churchill is…
CHURCHILL ROSE proved very popular with her owners. We think it’s a beautiful name, with a clear nod to her sire, while the Churchill Rose is also the name of an apricot rose commissioned by Churchill College, Cambridge, and selected by Winston Churchill’s youngest daughter, Lady Mary Soames, from a number of new varieties bred by a nursery in Norfolk, and has been planted in the garden of Number Ten.
Thank you to each of her Owners for taking part in the naming process, and of course to Owner, Kim, who originally submitted the name.
We all look forward to hearing it used on the track, and it won’t be too long now until she makes her debut…
