Mustazeed did his Owners and Members proud once again, yesterday at Doncaster, as he stormed forward to win the last, the 1m2f Handicap, under a superb ride from Hollie Doyle.
Not only that, but it was a record breaking ride for Hollie, with her 152nd winner of the season, beating her previous best of last year. Many congratulations, indeed, to Hollie!
Hollie knew exactly where they needed to be in the early stages of the race, and as they turned into the home straight, Hollie just started to give Mustazeed some encouragement and he progressed smoothly to sit on the heels of the leaders with three to run. Then, Hollie asked Mustazeed to go and with that raking stride, he lengthened and quickened to join the leader Aone Ally – he soon led, and kept hold of his position to the runner up by three quarters of a length.
It was an exhilarating performance from the 3yo son of Territories, sparking scenes of pure joy from his Owners and Members present at the racecourse. Chris Wall, his trainer, was also delighted with his performance.
This was a performance that suggested there is plenty more improvement still to come as he strengthens even more and fills his impressive frame and Hollie indicated a similar perspective.
