We have been on the trail, for a little while, of a sweet 2yo filly by Sixties Icon out of Rose Cheval who has thus far produced six foals. Four of them, also by Sixties Icon, making them full sisters to our new filly, have won eleven races between them and the fifth foal, a half sister, by Winker Watson, was beaten a neck, on her debut, in a Newmarket maiden, her best run…but a very commendable one. Our filly is the sixth foal but if the previous siblings are anything to go by, we have plenty to look forward to.

Therefore, we were keen to acquire this filly who missed all the yearling sales due to a superficial issue and, after lengthy negotiations, we are pleased to be able to announce her to our members today.

She will go into training with Bury Road trainer, Charlie Fellowes, who had a marquee season in 2019, winning his first race at Royal Ascot, moving into the historic Bedford House stables on Bury Road, taking over from legendary trainer, Luca Cumani before narrowly missing out on ‘the race that stops a nation’, finishing a nose second in the Melbourne Cup. Following a couple of weeks of pre-training and quarantine, she will be heading into Bedford House and we’ll be arranging a stable visit for you to meet both her and her trainer.

By Sixties Icon, a St Leger winner, who was himself by world class stallion, Galileo, he has proven to be a remarkable stallion, getting winners over all trips but surprisingly has been able to produce so many with plenty of pace, able to win over the minimum trip.
Although a top class stayer, he was described to us when in training as ‘always showed plenty of pace, himself’ and, consequently, perhaps it shouldn’t be such a surprise that he has been able to get so many winners over the sprint trips.

Rose Cheval, her dam, has produced five previous foals and as indicated, four of those, full sisters have won eleven races between them from 5f to 10f and we are very pleased with the transaction and will bring you the opportunity to meet her, once she is  in Charlies yard.

Charlie Fellowes

We are very excited with the prospects of this sweet filly who is still growing and being in a top yard who, after breaking their duck at Royal Ascot in 2019, are hoping for bigger things again in 2020.
