Purchased, inexpensively, as a yearling, and another named after a character in the Friends sitcom series, Phoebe ran into a couple of half decent sorts on her first two starts, finishing second on both occasions. She subsequently won on her third start and showed enough to contest a valuable Newmarket Nursery, on the July course, where she once again ran into a very decent sort, finishing second in that £20,000 event to a prolific Mark Johnston trained winner. She went onto win twice at three years old and again did the double at four, winning six, all told, before being sold to a small breeder. Not bad for 6000 guineas.
